NUComers Sign Ups!! Please Read.

Hey y’all – here’s the long awaited signup for this year’s NUCOMERS!!! This trip is undergrad only.

**IMPORTANT CHANGE: we are no longer collecting the $35 ticket fee through Venmo. The first ~100 or so people to sign up will be contacted in the coming days about how to purchase tickets online through Northeastern, and those who get a spot initially will have until this Sunday (10/3) at 11:59 PM to pay. After that, we will begin contacting people on the waitlist as spots open up. Because of the volume of signups we expect, we will likely not be able to email each and every one of you your waitlist/spot status, but it is safe to assume if you do not receive an email about ticket purchasing in the coming days that you are on the waitlist. Questions can be directed to nuhoc.info@gmail.com, we will try to get back to you ASAP. **

NUCOMERS: signup form opens Monday, Sept. 27th at 8 PM

Hey everyone!

If you haven’t already seen our social media announcements, we are going to be sending out a signup form for our signature event of the year, NUComers, which will take place at our Loj in New Hampshire on October 8-11th, on Monday night, September 27th at 8 PM!

NUComers is a perfect opportunity to meet new NUHOC members as well as older students and alumni and spend the long weekend hiking, climbing, and exploring in the beautiful fall foliage of the Northern White Mountains!

To secure your spot at NUComers, watch for the signup form link which will be posted on our social medias and sent to this email list at 8PM on Monday night. Signups will fill quickly – we expect a waitlist. Those who are selected for the first round or so will receive an email soon after with details on how to pay the $35 ticket fee. This year, we will be collecting these ticket fees via Venmo, so you will be assigned an Eboard member to Venmo your ticket fee too. You can ask them if you have any questions about your ticket or if you can no longer make it to the trip.

You will have about 72 hours to pay your $35 – if you haven’t paid by that time, your spot will be forfeited and someone from the waitlist will be contacted and given 72 or so hours to get their $35 in. As we approach the week of the trip, if you can no longer make it, your ticket will be refundable up until Wednesday, October 6th. Trip calls will be made on Thursday, October 7th to confirm that you will be going and will give more details on where to meet to get your ride to the Loj.

Stay tuned for more information over the coming days – we hope to see you at NUComers this Fall! Questions can be directed to nuhoc.info@gmail.com but please bear with us as we move forward with this process 🙂

Best,VP Pub

General Meeting 9/22 – All About Build Committee!!

Helloooooooo NUHOC!

It was great to see that so many faces both young and old made it up to the Loj last weekend! The new generation of NUHOC looks promising.

If you were at the Loj for the first time last weekend, you may have noticed that what we call the Loj is actually a yurt – once upon a time, the Loj was its own cabin, the Brown Memorial Loj, which was built by members of the club in 1971. The Brown Memorial Loj burnt down in 2015, but the yurt was erected as a temporary structure in its place – keyword temporary, because we are in the process of building a new Loj!

This week’s meeting, which will be tomorrow night at 7:30 PM in Cargill 97, will feature (in addition to our normal trip signups for LCT/Open Loj weekend this weekend, gear rentals, and club updates) a presentation from our Build Committee. They will discuss the new Loj plans and give some great background information about our club’s history. This is a great opportunity for new members to get more involved with how our club works and to catch up on the history lesson you may have missed if you didn’t make it to Alumni Weekend last weekend!

General Meeting – SAR 101 with Julia Thoreson

In honor of alumni weekend this weekend, us tomorrow night, 9/15 in the Curry Student Center Mezzanine at 7:30 PM as we talk to esteemed NUHOC alum and California Search and Rescue team member Julia Thoreson! Expect some great stories from our NUHOC West contingent in addition to our usual meeting shenanigans.

General meeting 8/18

Look no further than our general meeting tomorrow night, 7:30 PM on Centennial quad. The holes are dug, the concrete is setting, and it’s time to start framing the deck for our new toolshed and we’d love your help. Even if you can’t make it to the Loj this weekend, we’d love for you to come hang out with us tomorrow night! The gear locker will also be open after the meeting to rent/return your gear (make sure to fill out a gear request form on the nuhoc.com website before you come to the meeting.)
